How WoolMap works
A social home for craft writing, without the noise
Every writer gets a profile that reads like a pinboard. Readers browse, follow by RSS and reply. Nothing is ranked by likes, because there are none.
A profile that reads like a pinboard
Cover banner, portrait, a short bio and a link to your own shop or website. Your posts sit underneath as pins, newest first, each with its cover, excerpt and reply count.
See profile featuresBoards for every craft
Writers file posts into their own categories, like a knitter’s “Sock patterns” or a dyer’s “Indigo vat”, and tag them with topics. Topics connect posts across profiles, so you can follow a technique instead of a person.
How categories and topics workReplies, kept kind
Anyone can reply with just a name. Guest replies wait for a moderator before they show, so threads stay useful: questions about gauge, fibre swaps, “what size needle did you use?”.
Read the community guidelinesBuilt for reading
Small things that make long project logs pleasant
Contents on long posts
Step-by-step pattern write-ups get a table of contents from their headings, so readers can jump straight to “Casting on” or “Blocking”.
Follow by RSS
Every profile has its own feed, and the whole site has one too. Follow a writer in any reader app, no account involved.
Made for Vietnamese and accents
Fonts and spacing are chosen so diacritics render cleanly: Vietnamese, French, Icelandic pattern names, all of it.
Plain, fast pages
Server-rendered HTML and CSS, no trackers and no ads. Pages open quickly on a phone at the yarn shop.
Why we built it
The best craft knowledge lives in someone’s notes
Mistakes, swatches, the dye bath that went wrong and what fixed it. WoolMap gives makers a calm place to publish those notes and gives readers a way to find them by craft, technique or person.
